IDK, man. 'Top Gear' ftw!

Moving is way too stressful. And I'm not even actually moving yet!

Monday is going to suck big time... I'm driving myself down to RVA in the morning to pack up everything I own. Everything. My room will be filled with boxes and furniture I can't disassemble. I'm hoping to get a good 9-10 hours down there working. I also need to pay my last month of rent, sign the new lease, and a couple other random and annoying things. You have no idea how happy I am to finally be 'moving out' of that place, even if I won't actually be moving till the end of the month. I'm way too excited for the new place.

Which, by the way, will have a sofa as of tomorrow. Horray furniture!

In other news, Thursday was epically busy. I got up around 7 to do a major bike ride with Yasha. We rode the NCR Trail from Paper Mill to Monkton, 13 miles total. I learned that my bike, being a mountain bike, isn't really meant to be sat upon for such long periods over such flat terrain. My butt still hurts.

That night was also The Inventory From Hell. Pro: free pizza. Con: everything else. I drank 2 bottles of delicious matè to stay awake. I didn't actually count as much as I was expecting, but it was still long and tedious and boring and I hope I never have to do it again. The eggplant on my pizza was pretty good though, for my first time eating it.

Random: I was basically a vegetarian on Thursday. I had a Poptart, a vegan turkey club sandwich, a toasted PBJ, and a slice of vegan pizza. The tempeh was surprisingly good, if incredibly overpowering on that sandwich. I don't want to think about what the 'turkey' was. Tofu just freaks me out.

Also, I spent 5 hours today checking and unpacking 51 boxes of products from UNFI. While suffering from cramps. But then I had a bison burger for dinner, the first burger of any kind I've had in years. Still bland, but slightly better than regular ground beef. I just love seafood too much, I guess.

I think I might have mild depression. Maybe. According to WebMD, I have some of the symptoms. For some reason the prospect doesn't bother me though. Then again, I'm not exactly dissatisfied with my existence, nor do I want to physically harm myself. I'm just terribly lazy, not very hungry, and apathetic towards nearly everything. Whatevs.

Also, more random: I came out, I guess, to Yasha a week or so ago. It just sorta came up, like, "So, what exactly are you, if you don't mind my asking?" "Oh, asexual." Yeah. Basically. And then on the bike ride we had a short conversation about me having sex and proceeding to tell him about it, while I'm thinking, 'Yeah, right, like that'll happen.' I don't even like putting in tampons, why would I be willing to have something else up there?

I need to update more often, or else every time I do I just end up spewing out tons and tons of random where one paragraph is almost never linked to the previous one. Seriously.

45 more minutes. Is it lame that I know how old America and Canada are? [234 and 143] Fucking Hetalia....

*sneeze attack*

Ugh, I've got a cold. It's really totally not fun.

Yesterday and the day before I had a numb, scratchy throat, but it didn't affect my voice. I've gotten progressively more sniffly and now it's just ridiculous. And of course cat snuggling isn't helping with the runny nose problem.

Other news:
Inventory starts next week. I've already started counting some of backstock, like the holiday stuff, the new stuff that we don't have space for yet, and all the bulk herbs. In preparation for inventory, I get to come in tomorrow and work backstock as much as humanly possible. Oh joy...

I was invited to a party Friday night, which I convinced mom to let me go to for a couple hours, but I'm starting to think maybe it's not such a good idea. I won't be able to really have fun since I'm driving myself home early, and I've got work at 8 the next morning. I feel like it really would be better for me to stay home, especially if I'm still sick then.

Saturday is the e-cycling event at work. Mom gets to man a grill and make food. I finally get to see Fred's band, which is exciting. Angela said she'd try to take some old computer stuff to the Alexandria store, which is cool. It's kinda funny, though, that mom and I are scheduled to be there at 8, but I'm off at 2 and she's off at 4. I'll probably just hang around at the event for those 2 hours or something.

Soccer is actually kinda interesting. Or, at least, I'm interested in the games we're playing; I could care less about the others... I'm really quite pleased that the US and England both made it to the round of sixteen. Perhaps we'll play each other again later. Sadly, our next game is Saturday while I'm at work.

oh, those vuvuzelas...

29 May 2010

sleeeeeeeepy (and a rant)

This has nothing to do with anything, but I feel like ranting a bit...

It's really starting to bother me - like, seriously, make me angry for a couple seconds - when, in fics, authors decide that Matt/Canada [depending on canon v au] is younger than Alfred/America. Based on their canon birthdays, Matt is 3 days older, and Canada had its first year-round successful settlement in1605, 2 years before Jamestown. HE'S OLDER GRAHHHH!! I have no idea why this bothers me so much, but it really does. And then I feel like a terrible person for getting so worked up over such a minor detail. In all honesty, I much prefer them as twins who don't know which is older, as is implied by canon, since Himaruya never has one of them using onii-san or ototou or any form of either; they use a neutral form of brother. [And my mind just jumped to a deleted scene from 'Boondock Saints' involving a call from their mom and talk of 'aren't you going to tell us which one of us is older?']

Ugh...

Anyway, work!

Fun times were had by all as I checked in UNFI. Or something... I had to cut some bits of gouda for JP's wine tasting today, promoting businesses in the same shopping center and all. And I ate a rather delicious and large lunch for about as much as Amy's kid's mac & cheese: cheesey broccoli pocket, cherry fruit smash, black cherry yogurt, root beer. I would just like to say that Brown Cow yogurt is really really delicious, which means a lot, considering the only yogurt I've had in the last, like, 5-6 years was Trix, which only kinda counts.

Well, I'm off to get some ice cream and watch the latest 'Doctor Who'. Psh, like my life is busy...

besides, al's ridiculous behavior is more consistent with a younger sibling, while matt is calm and responsible.

27 May 2010

apparently, my life is busy...

Except not really... I just do absolutely nothing with my life and feel no need to write about how I do nothing.

Except for Sunday night. Because that was epic and stuff.

Basically, I went to Becca's and we watched the LOST finale together with Joe.

BUT FIRST we went on a snack run to 7-11 for Slurpies and Rite-Aid for snacks and Jolt. Reliving middle school, man.

Jake is ginormous and Fred is skinny and sick with something (they never said what). Very sad. Joe made spaghetti - as in, made the sauce right there. It was yummy.

But OH GOD THE FINALEEEEE!!!

I teared up within the first 10-15 minutes. I forget why now... And I got teary again about half-way in. And then I cried for, like, the last 30ish minutes and for a bit after. Like, trying not to make embarrassing sounds, dripping snot everywhere, doing that awkward chin-wibbly-trying-not-to-smile-happily thing. Because OH GOD THE END!! It really was perfect. I found a comparison pic on tumblr for it.

I wish it was bigger, but yeah. Perfect.

AND HURLEY REALLY WAS THE NEW JACOB!! God, that made me so happy! Ahhh, it really was a very satisfying end to an amazing show. Not everything was answered, and that's ok. I really wasn't expecting answers to everything. But everything that mattered was explained. The only thing I'm unhappy with, even though I understand why it wasn't addressed, was Walt. We never really get an answer to him - because the actor shot up, like, 3 feet and couldn't play a 12-year-old anymore. Which is sad, but oh well. And I guess Michael wasn't in the church because his spirit was 'doomed' to walk the Island as one of those whispers. Oh well.

College Humor did a pretty funny vid of all the unanswered questions spanning the entire series. Some of them were answered in the end, but most weren't. Of course, some of them were ridiculous, like what's with Kate and that horse, or why did Tom wear a fake beard, and some were seriously kinda important, like where's Christian Shepperd's body anyway, and what's the deal with the frozen wheel. Indeed.

After LOST, Joe rolled a joint from receipt paper (which I declined, since I still feel nervous about seriously smoking things, because bongs don't count), and the 'alternate endings' on Jimmy Kimmel were really lame. We opened our Jolts and watched 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' before going to bed around 3. Becca let me have her bed, and she slept in her parents' bed. Man, her bed is comfy.

I got a call around 10-ish the next morning, which I ignored since I was only kinda conscious. When I listened to the voice mail later, it was from Metro, saying we've been approved and they were gonna call back when the lease was ready. So, that's exciting.

Work work work. Ammie called me 'her little duck' on my first day back. It was kinda adorable. It's really interesting, the contrast between newbies and oldies there. Today I finally got to see my two favorite people, JT and Will. I even did that run-jump-tackle thing with Will, which is always fun. Aaaand then I had to leave because I was just there till he got there. Also, mom went in at 7, three hours before me, and left about 15 minutes after me, close to 5:30. I have no idea what's wrong with her. And after getting a mcchicken for the first time in months and months, I took the most meandering route home ever. I took 100 to Long Gate Parkway and cut through old Elicott City, down a bit of Rolling Road, onto 40, last Yasha's new work, around a bit of the beltway, down McDonough, and up a bit of 795. And I got home after mom.

In other unrelated news, HELLZABETH IS AN EVIL ENGLISHWOMAN FOR KILLING CANADAAAAAAA!! Seriously, I almost cried! That was evil evil evil. Quebec and everything east is forming their own country, Yukon and BC went to America, and the rest are gonna be together as well. I was in complete shock. I'm still gonna keep reading, as much as it'll pain me, but I do want to know how this goes. Maybe the used-to-be-Canada bits will get involved separately?

because i'm a perv.

and now i'm getting off, because this thunderstorm is really intense.

21 March 2010

here comes the nighttime

[rawr, matt & kim is awesome. are awesome? one of those...]

i got to work produce yesterday. it was kinda fun. and heavy. seriously, one bucket of just lettuce weighed so much! i had to get joe to get one such bucket down from where barret stashed it too high... but yeah. i ran produce for a good 4 or 5 hours. i thought i did a pretty good job. i ended up getting called to bag a lot around 5 or 6, and when i finally made it back produce was a mess. seriously, there were almost no bananas left. also, within an hour of me working it when i got there, when i was putting up bananas [we went through 5 boxes while i was there. no joke...] barret offered me a summer job at more than i make now. sooo yay! he said i had the hands for it, because i was being careful and specific with my banana placement, instead of just kinda tossing them up there. awesome.

i did my taxes last night. refunds all around!

drove back to rva today. exciting. i don't know what it is about 95, but it seriously always puts me to sleep. which is really bad when i'm driving... but yeah, i got in before 11, which was awesome. and then i sat around online til, like, 2 before showering... and then sitting around some more until close to 5 before getting some food. i ended up getting 5 guys and heading to the fab to finish my resisting. so that's done. none of the rest of my homework is though... i'm really terrible, and this week is going to suck.

i've got a paper due thursday morning and some sort of math creation due thursday afternoon. neither of which have even been started. actually, the document for english has the page number header coded in, my info blurb, and a title. but that's the easy part. god, i'm so totally screwed. i still need to find out current handwriting rehabilitation methods. i can tell this week is going to be terrible.

as for math, i know i want to do a narwhal tessellation. maybe something like this, only i have no idea what to put in the sky...

mmmmm, this is an amazing story. it makes me feel guilty for loving it so much...

18 March 2010

i wish i brought my arnica...

work work work

i always forget how sore it makes me, especially when i haven't done any real physical labor for a couple months now. and this is just after 2 days of working.

monday was fun in a pointless way. yasha and i went to arundel mills and just kinda wandered around. i bought us lunch, then ice cream. we didn't really do anything. we wandered around bass pro shops, looking at guns mostly, we went to dave and buster's to ask about his job, we looked through spencers. really, that's it. then we drove back, i bought him a couple gallons of gas, and he took me home. not exciting, but it beats sitting at home all day ignoring my homework...

work on tuesday. i basically spent all day bagging and fronting random things. quite boring, but oh well. it was money.

work on wednesday. i wore my green shirt. spent all day climbing on top of things and moving what was on top of the produce cooler and bathrooms to the new extra space, which we're just borrowing while the renovations are happening. i was confused as to why they had two of the smallest people, me and tim, climbing giant ladders and lifting heavy things. i finished up the last of it a little before 6.

it's been so nice these last couple of days. saturday was pretty gross, so was sunday. monday was okay, but tuesday and wednesday were so nice. i ate my lunch yesterday in the trunk of the wagon outside listening to the radio. i'm gonna do it again today.

also, i get to see will today!

well, i need to go attempt to pack a lunch before work. horray...

this needs no explanation. it's just absofuckinglutely amazing beyond all words.

15 March 2010

break? what break?

first of all: i have a weird combination of "love game" by lady gaga, "living in the sky with diamonds" by cobra starship, and "the bird and the worm" by owl city stuck in my head. it's so strange... it goes something like, "hold me and love me - if you're the bird - we're living in the sky with diamonds." now imagine it with the melodies. weird.

also: fala got a twitter, and after some unsuccessful searches we found each other. i'm sort of getting into twitter now. i can't say 'again' cuz i was never very into it before... but yeah.

i've got work over break. money-work. like, more than i was expecting. i'm working everyday tuesday thru saturday. i was hoping to leave saturday so i had all of sunday to futz around and do the stupid resist, but i'll have to go back sunday.

tues: 12-8p
wed: 10-6p
thurs: 1:30-9:30p
fri: 2:30-9:30p
sat: 12-8p

this throws a wrench in my yasha plans, so we're gonna do something tomorrow after he gets out of class. no idea what, but i offered him gas money since i know he never has enough of it. i'm hoping to work on my english paper tomorrow, but we'll see how that goes.

daylight savings time started. the sucky version, where i lost an hour. and i didn't even sleep very well last night. so, i was still laughing loudly at 11:30 before i remembered everyone else was in bed and i should really be quiet because it's not 10:30 like my body is convinced it is. so now i'm still rather awake. it's altogether unfortunate.

i did something i'm terribly ashamed of today. like you wouldn't believe. i need to remember to delete my history...

ok, awesome-fill-of-the-moment time. it's called "the screeching bitches" and so far it's pretty awesome. in general, it's about the awkward forming of a band. i have to say in general because the request is rather detailed and awesome. part of the reason i love it so is because of french-canadian!matthew because that is win.

full prompt:
Alfred is in a band with Arthur and Francis. Recently they lost their drummer in the Incident and now they need a new one. Francis drags his ex-military cousin from Quebec, Mattieu in for a session and the poor guy is basically strong armed into joining.

At first Mattie seems quiet and polite but Alfred realizes that the Canadian is a master of the art of stealth snark. Alfred and Mattie settle into something of a love/hate kind of friendship, but eventually it stirs up into something a little hotter and a lot deeper.

Must haves:
1. Mattie has ptsd, is an autodidact, is writing (poetry, short stories, novels, everything really) as he lives/wastes his life away on Francis's couch.
2. Alfred is an astrophysics doctorate student.

the filler is slightly off in her part numbering, but that's just me being ridiculous... i'm half convinced bay is the writer, but i think that's because i want her to be writing something i'm reading. she mentioned working on a new fill, so i'm just hoping i managed to find it because she's awesome.

matt told the rents he smokes. which slightly surprises me - the telling-the-rents part, not the smoking part. i knew he smoked a while ago. so whenever he 'goes for a walk' it's more obvious he's going out to smoke.

mom made fudge. it's delicious. and it's just chocolate chips, condensed milk, vanilla, and a bit of salt.

i've recently been going back through all my posts here and editing my tags. like, deleting the random ones that only have one use. i may just go back the beginning and retag everything, but i feel like that's pointless and will be really weird for me, rereading everything i've done since august 2008. because i did some strange things, like that pic-a-day thing back in like october 08. yeah.

and my spelling is sucking right now. i should probably just brush my teeth [which i'm making a point of doing every night starting with break], taking that melatonin, and and winding down.

complete crack. i have to say, the game is tailor-made for england, and has quite the potential for addiction.

13 March 2010

home again, home again, etc...

took the greyhound home yesterday for break. exciting, as usual. mom picked me up because dad was working and yasha was on his way to new york with heather for the tim burton exhibit. and everyone who knows him is incredibly jealous. i know i am...

anyway, everything has been going well so far. i brought up the unfortunate housing situation over dinner at red lobster, and when we got home i walled nicole. so i am confident we'll be living together next year, which should be fun. seriously, no sarcasm there. hopefully it'll all work out, seeing as we're both rather prone to add... we should probably start looking for places soon.

matt didn't get into college park, but he did get into cua and pitt. we're still waiting for umbc, and i forget what's up with vt.

dad's going to cali [i think] for the week for work. which sucks for family time, but means there's less people fighting over cars. at least i got to see him some before he left. he's taking a red eye back next sunday. i'm not sure what this means for transport back. i do want to come back saturday because i've gotta work on my silk painting. i need to have all the resisting done by class on monday.

i've got work to do over break, which is unfortunate. i have to work on my review of research paper for english and figure out how my actual paper is going down. i need to come up with ideas for quilt patterns, though that should be pretty easy. i have to do my math final, which i'm pretty sure is going to be some sort of narwhal tessellation. just because. and i may be working-working, though dan hasn't gotten back to me.

and i've got some half-baked [heh] plans for st patty's day with yasha. we're hanging out during the day, because he's got plans with heather for the evening/night. over im we proposed plans, which led to a really weird conversation involving cross-dressing [that's saved as a draft here so i can remember it forever], but i'm realizing i'm not sure exactly how the pre-plan is going to work out. he needs to acquire things. i hope he does. because yeah. [slightly related: i'm hoping 420 pans out for me as well...]

recently i broke down and downloaded a shit-ton of owl city. stupid fsts getting me interested in stuff i normally wouldn't be... like german industrial rock. and french rap - wait, that was jenny. anyway... yeah, i have owl city, which led to me breaking down and getting mgmt, because dammit, it's catchy. which reminded me to download matt & kim, even though they're not related to mgmt at all. oh, my musical escapades...

oh god, i almost started talking about this incredible fic i finished reading, but then i remembered exactly how incredibly inappropriate it is. because it really is. it makes me feel terrible and giddy at the same time, and i love it. grr. stupid guilty pleasures putting me on trains to hell...

uhh... i want to keep talking, but i have no idea what else to say...

well, i just finished blood-winged amazing story, "at the end of all things." and i'm terribly sad that it's over. wahhhh, i don't want it to be over! also, i want her to write more prucan, but that's really beside the point... i'm so sad, i'm rereading the whole thing. or i'm just really bored and craving me some prucan...

idek... pixiv is cool.

14 January 2010

music fiend!

lately i've been more actively thinking about my attempts at making an fst. i've been sorta collecting random songs from "my music" [as in, not from any other fst's] for the past month or two, and i've noticed a slight pattern to them: they're either indie or classic rock.

so my new goal is to create 2, with those as guidelines. i've got a fair list going in total:

"Skipping Hearts" MR RUSSIA [belarus]
"Stuck on Repeat" Little Boots [pre-revolution]
"shoulders" 13ghosts [canada]
"Billy Brown" Mika [england, due to a fic...]
"One Week" Barenaked Ladies [2 nations fighting]
"The Boys Are Too Refined" the Hush Sound [girls]
"Wine In the Afternoon" Franz Ferdinand [drunk arthur]
"Lumberjack Song" Monty Python [canada]
"Where Did Our Love Go" the supremes [post-revolution]
"Backstabber" dresden dolls [angry!revolutionary!england]
"Womanizer" franz ferdinand [france]
"Let Me In" siriusmo [belarus]
"Le Disko" Shiny Toy Guns [all the girls]
"Magazine" millimeters mercury [america]
"fortunate Son" CCR [america]
"Brand New Day" NPH [cold war america]
"We Didn't Start the Fire" Billy Joel [everyone]
"Angel of Mercy" Shy Child [everyone]
"When I Was a Boy" The How [colonial!america]
"Ballroom Blitz" Sweet [meetings]
"Legend of Zelda Theme" System of a Down [america]
"Changes (Borderline Remix)" Tahiti 80 [prussia]
"Fashion" Rogue Traders [poland]
"Filthy/Gorgeous" Scissor Sisters [poland]
"Farm Land" The Never [austria & hungary]
"Guitar vs Piano" Gokusan [prussia & austria]
"Let's Go To The Mall" Robin Sparkles [temporarily-canadian-poland]
"Letter From God to Man" Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip [everyone sorta]

i have a feeling the indie one is going to work out better [and faster] so i started actively looking for songs by little-known artists. which reminded me that i should really check out 3hive again...

as far as the indie one goes i've got:

"Skipping Hearts" MR RUSSIA [belarus]
"Stuck on Repeat" Little Boots [pre-revolution]
"shoulders" 13ghosts [canada]
"The Boys Are Too Refined" the Hush Sound [girls]
"Wine In the Afternoon" Franz Ferdinand [drunk arthur]
"Womanizer" franz ferdinand [france]
"Let Me In" siriusmo [belarus]
"Le Disko" Shiny Toy Guns [all the girls]
"Magazine" millimeters mercury [america]
"Brand New Day" NPH [cold war america]
"Angel of Mercy" Shy Child [everyone]
"When I Was a Boy" The How [colonial!america]
"Changes (Borderline Remix)" Tahiti 80 [prussia]
"Fashion" Rogue Traders [poland]
"Farm Land" The Never [austria & hungary]
"Guitar vs Piano" Gokusan [prussia & austria]
"Let's Go To The Mall" Robin Sparkles [temporarily-canadian-poland]
"Letter From God to Man" Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip [everyone sorta]

with "Legend of Zelda Theme" System of a Down [america] as a bonus.

i'm still determined to find at least one t&s song that fits somewhere. i can't use "come on" because i found that one in a liet/pol one. but i can't figure out how to make the song i really want to work ["feel you in my bones"].

i decided that for a cover i was going to futz with a photo i had. so i surfed my belle isle album for things that would be ambiguous and clever and 'indie' and edited them in picnik.

9 so far. multiples of some. once i figure out the specific songs and how to zip/rar the folder up and such, i can title it and add the title to one of the images.

in other news, yasha turned 20 today. scary. he was going to celebrate at bourbon street, and something about me needing a dress and getting me hooked up with some chick... idk. but anyway, that fell through and instead he's having a get together tomorrow afternoon at his house. i think that's much better, especially considering my recent revelation.

thing is, christian is going to be there.

and i haven't seen or talked to him since we broke up in august.

yasha says he says he's fine with it, and i hope so. i know i'm going to be awkward for a bit because i just am. but i really do want him to be okay with it, because i still feel bad about the whole thing. mainly because of my recent revelation. i finally figured out why specifically i was uncomfortable with it, aside from him being in love with me and me not. well, the two are connected.

so yeah, i'm nervous about it. i want it to work out. i don't want to ruin yasha's party with our issues. i'm hoping i get there before he does, or at least that we don't get there at the same time...

today was my last day of work. it was a pretty good day, considering it was also payday. yayy! my before-tax total was $666, which i laughed at, but i got $615 out of it - even with my exemptions. stupid medicare and social security... but in addition to that i ended up winning My Oh My and a $25 gift card. My Oh My is basically all the department heads getting together and deciding which employee was the most involved and helpful and all around best for the week. i'm slightly surprised i won, but not really. i wasn't even aware of how the winner was picked until mom told me. i know ellie and dan had been very glad i was there. i really helped wellness get things straightened and able to hire a 'real' employee. i did the grunt stocking work to the regular people could focus on the customers and the busy work. it was hard - my back was not very forgiving - but it worked out well.

and i added to my repertoire of skills at MOMs.

i spent my $25 on some omega-dha pills to help with my add, a delicious chocolate protein drink [mmm odwalla] and an amazing raspberry blood orange. god, that's my new favorite fruit. it wasn't as sour as oranges [and especially blood oranges] are, and you could taste the raspberry right at the end. amazing. i might have to get mom to stop by saturday when we go back to rva so i can grab 6 and bring them back with me. i know ces wants to try one.

anyway, i think i'm going to go to bed now.

oh! i just remembered an awesome thing i discovered about vista yesterday. when i have 4 firfox windows and 8 apps open in my bottom bar and vista compresses the 4 firefox tabs into one, i can right click it and tell it to display all stacked. and then i've got all 4 in quadrants in my screen. they're tiny, but that's okay. when i need to access one i just fullsize it.

and i found the most amazing fill ever on the kink meme. the prompt was something about canada being killed by a serial killer and how being a nation plays into that and the awesome twin-ness between him and america. and at first i thought it was going to be dark and depressing - actually it totally is for the first 20 or so parts - and i didn't want to read it. but then i did and it's fantastic. it really is. even though it is depressing and crazy and it just doesn't matter. it's over here.

okay, bed for real now.

meme!

i got bored and found this meme in my dA watchers list. my answers:
1- twenty i have no idea what that is... something to do with ww2...]
2- glasgow, scotland!
3- bed [that's a pretty sweet bed, btw]
4- tea
5- shrimp scampi
6- lolcats
7- green [that woman is kinda terrifying...]
8- bawlmer, merlin, hon!
9- rva
10- abigail [breslin]
11- emily [strange]
12- yoshi! [i hope he doesn't get offended lol]
13- jellybean [though only my parents call me that]
14- eleanor [mustang... which i'm starting to kinda want...]
15- geneva [switzerland]
16- fisher [otter?]
17- internet...
18- cheese cutter [seriously.]
19- nancy
20- fiber arts
tag- i hate my touch pad...

btw, work was long and sucky today. it's supposed to snow some tonight, and dan predicted we'd get a lot of business today as a result of everyone in baltimore running around and freaking out. it was true... those last 2 hours, which i think were technically overtime, were brutal... i crashed in the car ride home. seriously. i vaguely remember mom getting out at bob's for her part, and then we were at berrymans and reisterstown and i had no idea how we even got there.

last night i was watching part of the 25th anniversary concert for the rock and roll hall of fame. the general format is one band sets up and does a song or two, they have several random guests come out and join them for other songs, and repeat. almost everyone was an inductee [fergie and will.i.am certainly aren't]. aretha franklin had just finished singing with annie lennox. that was cool i guess [honestly i fast forwarded through it...]. the next band out, though, was metallica, just inducted this past year. and one of their 'guests' was ozzy. and i was amazed at that whiplash genre change. seriously.

i felt kinda bad fast forwarding through so much. i felt like it was my history in a weird way, and i was being disrespectful by skipping huge chunks. then again, the whole thing was over 4 hours long, with no commercials. there's no way i'm sitting through all that.

the bits around my fingernails are weird...

no idea about the title. but the little bits of skin right next to where my fingernails come out of the skin are really itchy on both my middle fingers. and i need to pick at them. it happens sometimes...

so, yesterday was hell. i really don't like tuesdays at work.

regular tuesdays are truck days, so i get to unpack 10-20 randomly packed boxes of shit. normally it's not that bad. my first tuesday had the largest order they've had in a long while: 21 boxes. nothing so bad since. i had 14 yesterday.

tuesdays are also leadership meeting days, so ellie has to leave for that at 11. and i get to run the department - which i know next to nothing about - by myself for 1-2 hours. it's usually not too bad. customers tend to be nicer and forgiving of my lack of knowledge when i say i'm just helping out and the other person is in a meeting.

now, why yesterday was a really sucky tuesday. in addition to those 14 boxes there were also a couple other shipments that had come in the day before, one of which was a rather large and tedious vitamir [our house brand of supplements] order. it didn't help that i had slept kinda bad the night before. [though not as bad as jan 1-2, where i'm not sure if i actually slept because i spent the night twitching and convincing myself i was high even though i knew i wasn't but my body felt the same and it really sucked]

today was kinda sucky too. i wasn't originally scheduled to work today, but on saturday instead.

i ended up putting 2 carts worth of endcap stuff into backstock. mom helped me, we spent a couple hours rearranging and adventuring into the storage over the bathroom.

owwwww

first of all: gosh, is my life so sad that all i can do is blog about it even though i know no one reads this? apparently...

that, and i'm wasting time, making it look like i'm doing something when i'm really waiting for one parent or other to go away...

anyway!

i'm unhappy that the movie extravaganza we just managed to schedule had to be derailed. stupid work. stupid lack of cars. oh well. i'm still seeing 'boondock saints' tomorrow!!

oh shit, that reminds me, i need to check to make sure i wasn't lying and it really is still playing...

ok. yes, it is, but checking wall posts reveals confusion on my part. i hate feeling left out.

work is starting to give me physical pain. i was already/still hurting from yesterday, and going up and down a ladder for probably close to 4 hours today has not helped. my feet are aching, my back hurts, my legs hurt, and i think i'm going to take a bath instead of a shower so i can just sit in toasty water for a while. mmmmmmm.

but i organized the entirety of wellness top stock in about 2 hours, and started organizing the extreme amounts of back stock for inventory next week. so i feel mildly satisfied. and when we were pulling into the neighborhood after work i remembered i didn't take a break, so that was 8 straight hours. no wonder i hurt! i'm definitely taking a break tomorrow, especially since it's truck day and i'll be lifting and bending and generally murdering my back for those first 3 hours. joy...

but in slightly brighter news, i finally got me some [supposedly, hopefully] intense tea to wake me up: irish breakfast tea! according to the box, it's intense, especially when compared to english breakfast tea. english is, apparently, meant to be enjoyed over a period. irish is a kick in the pants with caffeine! which is just what i need when getting up at stupid o'clock.

i was gonna say something and then i forgot...

oh! i'm working on catching up on all the fics i missed due to this whole snow thing and finally getting set up for christmas. last night we set up the tree and dad pulled out the moravian star and the hand-painted nativity set. even though i'm not religious, it was still nice to see the two family traditions together. as in, the star is from the fisher side and the nativity set is from the burhenn side. the moravian star became the star above the nativity. and i had to make sure the wise men weren't there yet because it's not epiphany. and it's weird that i would be concerned about that, considering my general non-religion...

apparently i got a package from woot at other-house. which is weird cuz i just checked my woot account and i haven't ordered anything since the wild parties shirt, which came already. i can only assume someone ordered it for me, but i have no idea who...

ugh, i need to work on my christmas presents... the only person i'm done for is matt. i've got half-presents for mom and dad, and i've barely started kat's... and christmas is friday! i should just stop catching up on fics and watch some doctor who and kit that hat. i'm also making fred at work a hat, though that's not exactly a top priority right now...

anyway, a pic, somewhat snow-related:

adorable canada and russia is adorable.

19 December 2009

hmm

There was a boy
A very strange
Enchanted boy
They say he wandered
Very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he

And then one day
One magic day
He passed my way
While we spoke
Of many things
Fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love and
Be loved in return"

[Nature Boy David Bowie]

idk...

it came to me when i was drying off after my shower. something about, "she was all subtle curves and uncombed hair." and that song from "moulin rouge" popped into my head. no idea where on earth i might go with this...

it's kinda distressing that practically everything i write is just glorified mary-sues... because i'm apparently incapable of making up my own characters and have to base them off of myself and the people i know...

anyway... IT SNOWED!!! LIKE, AROUND 2 FEET!! the roads are shit though, which is gonna suck when i have to go to work tomorrow... at least i don't go in till 10. i'm planning on leaving by 9 at the latest to give myself plenty of time to get there. hopefully the highways won't be horrible like the all-day weather news kept showing.

relevant to the snow:

dead

wooooooooork...

had to be there at 5 this morning. not really a problem, transport-wise, because dan scheduled mom and i for similar/the same time during the week.

today was a truck day. and wellness had a ginormous order: 21 boxes, plus another 9 from separate companies. i brought my ipod today and so spent 3 hours stocking and listening. i got through all but about 5 or 6 before ellie got there at 8 [so that's 15 or 16], and then we switched to those other boxes [the non-unfi ones]. i got to spend a stressful hour as the only person in wellness because there was a leadership meeting ellie had to go to and fred didn't get in till noon. thaaaat was hard, mainly because i had no idea what i was doing and couldn't do much to help customers and i felt bad about that. even though it's not really my fault.

when fred got in i slowed down and started fading, having been working since 5. but when ellie got in that morning she was glad i was there and could do all that stocking because of all the other stuff she had to do. but yeah.

i spent the car ride back trying not to fall asleep, doing that in-and-out thing. and i didn't nap, like i pretended to do yesterday, so that i can hopefully get to bed earlier tonight and get a bit more sleep. though mom pointed out that i really can't sleep in too much or everything will be that much harder on thursday when i have to get up at 3:30 again. so i'll be up at 9 tomorrow. joy...

i've been watching the first season of 'doctor who'. i've been looking and listening for references to bad wolf. so far i've counted 3: spray painted on the TARDIS in that first ep, mentioned in the news or something [i forget exactly...], and it was a new station in ep 7 [and featured a story about the face of boe being pregnant...]. i'm rally looking forward to season 3, not necessarily because i like martha [i think donna was my favorite companion, followed by mickey for some reason...], but because of 'blink' and i just remembered 'gridlock'. why do i remember the creepiest episode ever, and one of the saddest ones? seriously, 'blink' freaks me out every time - though i really like how it was done, focusing on random humans instead of the doctor and martha. also, "wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey... stuff."

but what i'm really looking forward to is seeing the regeneration from 9th to 10th. because that fascinates me. like how i'm sad about dt leaving, but excited and interested in the regeneration and how ms is going portray the doctor. yeah.

gosh, i'm a nerd.

also: CHRISTMAS IS IN 9 DAYS AND I'M SOOOOO NOT READY!!! i have half presents for my family, and that's about it. i really need to hit up joanns and figure out what else to do for matt.

here, have an adorable arthur! by the amazing zulenha.

21 June 2009

sometimes i'm just a little too into myself...

for some odd reason i spent today having random thoughts about how to turn the events into a book. like, what i would say to describe feelings and surroundings and such.

i was washing the cheese dishes and thinking about how to describe my build, since i have practically no fat... but i'm not really strong...

i talk to myself when i'm driving to and from work and listening to my ipod. random comments about the songs...

and just now, while texting christian:
him: but i like it [a pic i sent of me] : ) and they said ur cute. but i think ur gorgeous
me: ^_^ yea, everyone says im cute...
here, i finished the text in my head with, 'but you're the first to say i'm gorgeous.'

yeah, i'm a really freaky person. and i just realized that this blog is just serving to magnify my egotism, cuz i know no one reads this except occasionally yasha when he remembers it's here...

17 May 2009

eye troubles...

so, for some reason i decided to wear my contacts yesterday. i figured since i hadn't in, like, a month, my eye would be fine. and it seemed to be. until this morning.

i woke up and my eye was red and angry. i tried basically all day to successfully put drops in, and finally did around 5 or so. i spent most of work fending off burning pain and tears in front of customers, with only slight success. luckily only coworkers asked about it. and emily, who was on a random shopping trip with her dad. it was awesome! best 5 minutes of my day, probably.

my eye is still red now. and painful.

i'm going to call the eye doc tomorrow morning to get an appointment for tuesday or friday. because this is really not fun.

in the meantime, i've decided to swear off contacts for a while. at least until i know my eye is all better and won't cause problems for me. but possibly for several years. because if the doctor can't help and fix it, wearing contacts has become way more trouble than they're worth. i wore them for a little over 10 hours yesterday. and i've had 15 hours of pain and suffering. possibly more if it continues to bother me tomorrow. i can't deal with bright lights of any sort - i wore my sunglasses over my glasses when i drove to work, and it was pretty cloudy out. i had to do the drops in the dark bathroom because i knew the stupid yellow one would not help at all. i'm even squinting at my laptop screen, and i just turned the contrast down some.

hopefully i'll be able to see granick tuesday, or at least friday. i would love to have this taken care of this week.

that reminds me, i also need to remind mom we need to hit up bjs or someplace for my new glasses. not only is my left eye shit, but i need a stronger prescription, which means new glasses.

well, i'm going to bed now. it's too bright everywhere to stay awake for much longer...

21 December 2008

break?

sooooooooooo

today was my first day back at work! unfortunately, mom and i are scheduled for the same hours, which means i have to get up when she does to go in with her. i was up at 4 this morning. but, when mom was scraping the ice off the car i called anna to wish her a happy birthday. it was a weird message...

everyone i saw was all excited to see me and asked me about college. i saw najib, damean, jon, jon [lol], syeda, janeen, jaclyn, and yuri. and i get to see jt tomorrow! yay! and will too, i think... maybe...

crap, i have to write a proposal for mr obrien. we need to come up with a good purpose behind the duct-tape thing for them to let us do it, something besides "wow, that's cool!" but so far the deepest thing we've managed to come up with is "the artist herself is on display, she is the art" metaphorical bullshit that isn't very good. honestly, i really can't think of anything else... not good, cuz i can tell obrien kinda does like the idea. we even scoped out a better place and tested the duct tape and everything!

the christmas tree is already filled with presents. i know i got a dvd and a bunch of cds, but that's the only specifics i can work out... yesterday dad and matt and i went shopping for mom. and we went to panera bread, and i got a DELICIOUS bread bowl. and a d'peach mode jones soda. god, i love those things. the juice and the soup bread joy.

hmm, yeah.

i was just sitting here, thinking about what i could do online, and i remembered i hadn't updated this in a while. so i decided to.

my final grades are in. 3 c's, 2 a's and a b. my gpa is 2.78, which isn't too bad. the only real surprise was the b in time. i really didn't think i could get higher than a c, somehow... not even sure how i did that.

oh, speaking of just sitting online... i've been amusing myself with the joys of sapayne. and, after reading the 2 current stories as far as they've been written, reading 'snowflakes and embers', and re-reading 'heroes and ghosts' and 'the lies we tell,' i started to re-read 'btl: from the ashes,' only i started from, like, the middle. and i was reading this bit about toshi's granddad [human] working to during the plague, and it hit me: 'if i lie here' is a total precursor to 'btl'!! like, 100 years before it, but still! riley is one of the alphas, and the contruction company ranvier really is toshi's g-pa and the inkie communes are there being all awesome. and i was like 'sarah, i love you so much for this.' she must really like that universe if there are technically 3 stories written in it. it's pretty sweet, learning how the i/s guys came into being and all that stuff. i was pretty giddy for a bit there when i figured it out. and i wouldn't have if i hadn't gone back and read 'from the ashes' like i'm doing.

so, yeah...

oh, and anna and jenny have this strange fascination with cuttlefish...
